Beautiful Creature

A Poem by Hafiz*

There is a Beautiful Creature

Living in a hole you have dug.

So, at night

I set fruit and grains

And little pots of milk

Beside your soft earthen mounds,

And I often sing,

But still, my Dear,

You do not come out.

I have fallen in love with Someone

Who hides inside you.

We should talk about this problem –

Otherwise,

I will never leave you alone.

Now that you have read this poem, I suggest that you go back and read it again, but slowly this time. I suggest that on the second reading, you experience the poem. Make it personal. See if you can take in each word, phrase, sentiment expressed. Notice how your body responds to each of its stanzas. What are those reponses telling you about yourself and your relationship to your Secret-Relentless-Soul-Lover? Imagine what your life would be like if this was not just a poem written for the masses, but a Love Letter, written just for you?
